Ha az amigurumi technikára gondolunk, a többségnek szinte azonnal cuki, bájos, puha figurák jelennek meg a lelki szemei előtt, pedig ezzel a módszerrel egészen más, meghökkentő alkotások is horgolhatók.

Az amigurumi technika Japánból származik, az alkotók többsége arra használja, hogy általa könnyen és gyorsan horgolhasson cuki, ölelni való figurákat. Ezeket többnyire állatokról vagy mesék főszereplőiről mintázzák, gyerekeknek szánják ajándékba. Akadnak azonban olyanok is, akik teljesen szabadjára engedik a kreativitásukat, ők egészen meghökkentő amigurumi figurákat készítenek, például horror sorozatok szereplőit, vagy rajzfilmek csúnyácska, de vicces mellékszereplőit.
